What is Opportunistic Power?

Opportunistic Power is the generation of power closest to the demand where it makes the most logical, economic and environmental sense. The best, most practical example is the use of a solar powered calculator with a batter backup.

Features of the calculator: It is cost effective, has a small environmental footprint, is functional when the opportunity is not available, is portable, and performs a necessary function.

From medieval windmills in Holland, to solar-panels on your home, geo-thermal power in Iceland, hydroelectric in China, and even coal-fired electric plants in West Virginia all of these are examples of local power generation principle.
